The Academic Staff Union Of Universities has lamented yesterday over the half salaries payment by the Federal Government.

ASUU who recently just called off an eight monthly strike with the hope that the backlog of the eight months’ salaries will be paid were stunned when they got an half salaries for the month of October.

According to the reports being gathered, a chunk of Asuu members are furious with the payment and there is likely to be an emergency meeting regarding the half salaries paid. The President of the Union, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke speaking with Punch Correspondents has confirmed that they were paid half salaries. He said, ”Half salaries were paid, no reasons were given whatsoever.

We learnt that Ngige wrote the office of the Accountant General and integrated the payroll and personal information system and told them to only pay us for the period when we called off the strike.

We heard there was a letter to that effect but we haven’t gotten it yet. We are going to summon a meeting.”
