The Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, who is a PDP chieftain like Atiku Abubakar, has made a bold claim about who has the capacity to deliver between his party man, Atiku and the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi.
According to Governor Ortom with regards to a post made by DAILY TRUST, he rated Peter Obi above Atiku while also saying that Peter Obi is a man that has the capacity to deliver.
Governor Ortom posited this when Peter Obi visited the flood victims in his State which is coming just a few days after his Oyo counterpart, Governor Seyi Makinde threw his support behind the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2023 general election.
Ortom and Makinde are among the five PDP governors who are calling for the resignation of Senator Iyioricha Ayu as National Chairman of the PDP.
They had pulled out of the campaign team of Atiku Abubakar, PDP Presidential Candidate, saying peace would only reign if Ayu stepped down.
Ortom also said that the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, is the finest option for Nigeria.
“If Nigeria needs to make a choice, Obi is one of the finest candidates that we have in this country. In terms of education, in terms of character, in terms of performance, in terms of reaching out, in terms of being a pan-Nigerian, in terms of industrialisation, and passion to ensure that our country is liberated from where we are, out of insecurity to security, and out of economic woes to economic vibrancy and out of lack to adequate social life, you (Obi) have the capacity to make things work.
“And Peter Obi from your antecedents, you have the capacity. If I were God, I would have said everything but I am not God.”
“If I were not in PDP, Peter Obi would have been my candidate but I am in PDP, that is my handicap but my prayers are with you,” he told Obi.
