One of the pioneer governing council members of the newly established university of Ilesa, Dr Akinola Akinwnde Ayinde has resigned his appointment on 13th of February, 2023.
Akinola a renowned Ijesaman who was a former MD of International Breweries Limited, Ilesha, was inaugurated alongside other members by the former governor of Osun, Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola on November 2022 was reported to have resigned his position as member of the council due to frustration in the take off of the university which had ealier been approved by NUC .

In a message sent out by Akinola and sighted by our correspondent, it said he has communicated his resignation to the secretary of the state government and has been acknowledged by the government.
“I wish to inform you that I have today, Monday 13th February, 2023, resigned my appointment as a member of the Pioneer Governing Council of the University of Ilesa.
The letter to this effect had been delivered to the Secretary to the State Government and duly acknowledged” The message read

You will recall that Gboyega Oyetola inaugurated the Governing Council of the university before he left the state as Governor which had the immediate-past Minister of Health and former Vice-Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Prof. Isaac Adewole, as the chairman, Professor Sola Akinrinade, pioneer vice chancellor, Osun State University; Chief Bayo Jimoh, former group managing director, Odua Investment Company; Dr. Charles ‘Diji Akinola, Professor Labo Popoola, former vice chancellor, Osun State University among others as members.
