The former Commissioner for Works and Transport in Osun State, Engr. Remi Omowaiye has assured residents of Ilesa that the NUC approved University of Ilesa will be made functional when Gboyega Oyetola returns back as Governor by God’s grace.

Omowaiye, who spoke in Yoruba dialect at a campaign rally to canvass support from traders and market women for the APC House of Assembly candidates in Ijesaland, spoke extensively about the economic impact and advantages of University in a city like Ilesa.

“Every town a University is located, there’s always a complete turnaround in businesses and economic rejuvenation, and that’s why the former governor, Gboyega Oyetola ensured he granted the agelong request of Ijesaland of a University. Oyetola before leaving office in November 2022 has signed University of Ilesa into the state law, he has completed all processes such that enrolment of students into degree programmes should be ongoing now, unfortunately his successor who isn’t well educated has scuttled and destroyed the University of Ilesa agenda’, Omowaiye explained.

He stressed further that, “Ijesa sons and daughters who are professors have excelled as Vice chancellors in renowned universities and have continually dominated tertiary institutions, and they were exceedingly joyful when Oyetola gifted us the University, but I can assure you all that, we have the words of Oyetola, he has promised to fully revive and revitalize the dreams and vision of University of Ilesa project, and we are earnestly and eagerly hopeful that the Appeal and Supreme Court will validate the judgment of the election petition tribunal so that good governance will return to Osun State”, he concluded.
