Brazilian forward, Roberto Firmino, has reportedly agreed to a move to Barcelona on a free transfer this summer according to reports. After eight years with Liverpool, the 31-year-old’s contract with the English club will expire at the end of the season. Firmino is said to have expressed his desire to embark on a new challenge, prompting this purported move to the Spanish giants.

Firmino’s switch to Barcelona will bring to an end his impressive stint at Anfield. Despite his contribution to Liverpool’s success in recent years, the Brazilian has struggled to secure a regular starting position under manager Jurgen Klopp. Klopp is understood to have expressed his interest in retaining Firmino’s services but the forward has made it clear that his future lies elsewhere.

With Liverpool set to lose one of their key players while they engage in a rebuild of their own, all eyes will be on Barcelona to see how the Catalan club will integrate Firmino into their already star-studded squad. The advantage of getting him free of transfer fees will be the icing on the cake given the financial constraints Barca faces.

They may have to offset some players in the summer transfer market. The Brazilian’s potential arrival at Camp Nou is sure to bring fresh energy and talent to the team as they look to build on their recent success under Xavi Hernandez in La Liga and their desire to lift another UEFA Champions League trophy.
