Ikire Flooding: Osun Comm.For Environment, FERMA Official Inspects Flood Ravaged Areas, Assure Residents of Quick Intervention

It was an interesting event today as Ikire residents welcome Commissioner For Special Duties, who inspected flood affected areas in Ikire as he was briefed on the size of damages left by the floods and heavy rains. The Commissioner For Regional Integration And Special Duties, Dr B.T Salam was accompanied by a high level delegation including the Permanent Secretary Ministry Of Works, Engr. Bello, Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) officials, Director Of Flood, and other senior officials in State Emergency Management office.

The delegation promised to repair the blocked and outdated culvert at Oriolori and Naira and Kobo junction waterways to allow passage of waters. The people of Ikire were reassured about steps and measures taken by the state government in staving off the impact of the floods and rains, while providing a lasting solution to the disasters to forestall future occurrence. The state government equally promised to dredge rivers in Ikire and Apomu as part of measures to reduce the flooding of the rivers and its tributaries.

Dr. B.T Salam however urged the people to all work to ensure that we shun activities that have negative impact on our environment. The affected areas inspected including Oriolori junction, Naira and Kobo junction, Ilupeju area, Osun state university campus road, amongst others.
The people of Ikire were very happy and full of prayer for the quick intervention of Osun state Governor, Sen. Ademola Adeleke. They equally prayed for the success of his administration.
