BREAKING: Nigeria’s Inflation Rate Hits 33.69% in April, NBS Reports

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has announced that Nigeria’s inflation rate surged to 33.69 percent in April, driven by a sharp increase in the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages.

According to the NBS Consumer Price Index (CPI) report released on Wednesday, the April 2024 headline inflation rate marked a 0.49 percentage point rise compared to March 2024.

The NBS stated, “On a year-on-year basis, the headline inflation rate was 11.47 percentage points higher compared to the rate recorded in April 2023, which was 22.22%.”
