The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state of unnecessarily whipping up sentiment in order to misinform and misinterpret the political wise counseling of the National Chairman of the APC, His Excellency, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, to the effect that the party would extend its influence ahead of the 2027 general elections, particularly targeting Oyo and Osun states to strengthen support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He made the declaration at a stakeholders’ meeting on the forthcoming Ondo State governorship election in Akure, last weekend.
The Osun State chapter of the PDP in a tirade of abuse issued by the state chairman of the party, Mr Sunday Bisi, accused the national chairman of the APC of threatening fire and brimstone in the South-West and a careless plot to plunge the geo-political zone into avoidable political turmoil.
The PDP state chairman went further to warn Alhaji Ganduje *’to be careful not to compound the situation by attempting barefaced election rigging, especially in the Southwest, as doing so will be nothing but stepping on a very dangerous cobra’s tail’.*
Reacting, the Osun APC said it is a pity that the leadership of the PDP in Osun could go to the extent of exhibiting its crass ignorance of lack of the knowledge that the meaning of any word spoken at any particular point in time is not total and that it is disheartening that a bunch of political actors could give the meaning of the word(s) spoken by former Governor Ganduje to suit their ulterior purpose of orchestrated misinformation.
For how long do we need to spoon-feed the ever loquacious Osun State PDP chairman that the dictionary meaning of *’to capture’* could mean *’to gain or win especially through effort’* or *’to take according to the rules of a game’* or *’to secure?’*
If the intention of Sunday Bisi is not ulterior on the issue at stake, it is not too much for him to know that what the verifiable democratic National Chairman of APC was saying was that all legitimate efforts would be deployed by his party to ensure the APC victory in the forthcoming Osun State general elections.
There is no iota of need for Sunday Bisi and his cohorts to be jittery to the extent of pissing inside their trousers over Alhaji Ganduje’s goodwill message for his party that victory would be achieved by the opposition party in both Osun and Oyo states.
We understand the plight of the hopeless, woebegone and melancholy Osun State PDP chairman as his own party which is in disarray at the national level does not have the luxury of a national chairman who could give a hope of victory at all the levels of the party that is currently facing irredeemable implosion challenge.
It should be known to Sunday Bisi that what Alhaji Ganduje was saying was that there would be a level play field for all the candidates during the 2026 elections as opposed to how the PDP members were voting till 11:30pm in both Ede and Owode, the strongholds of the PDP, in the 2022 elections which ought to have ended at 4:00pm in the 2022 where three rings of both conventional and unconventional security officers were provided to aid the charade called elections.
The Osun State PDP chairman who retired as a primary school teacher should be knowledgeable and conscious enough to know that the message of the APC National Chairman was that the 2026 elections would not be allowed to be rigged by whatever means unlike the needless slaughtering of no fewer than 30 APC members and supporters by the PDP thugs to tilt the rigged victory towards the PDP candidates during the 2022 elections.
If Sunday Bisi is still left with his conscience and scruples intact, he would know without second-guessing that what Alhaji Ganduje was saying was that no PDP thugs would be allowed to run over any of the collation centres during the forthcoming elections and that the state would be made uninhabitable to any political hoodlums during the elections.
While we would like to state that the copious threats issued out by the Osun State PDP chairman were not necessary as there is nothing to warrant same, we would like to inform Sunday Bisi that the use of the word *’insane’* on the national chairman of the APC by him only exposed the Ijesa-born’s faulty, wobbled and unenviable upbringing as no one who enjoyed a qualitative nurturing would descend so low to so qualify a 70-year-old plus old man all in the name of politics.
If Alhaji Ganduje could concede the defeat of his party during the last governorship election in Kano State as a demonstrated democrat that he is, who is Governor Ademola Adeleke not to do same after he might have lost the governorship election in 2026?
