In a continent where access to reliable electricity remains a pressing issue, a recent report released by Africa Fact Zone sheds light on several African nations that have emerged as beacons of progress in ensuring stable power supply.

Topping the list compiled by Africa Fact Zone is Ghana, celebrated for its robust energy policies and investments in renewable sources. The West African nation’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions has earned it recognition as a regional leader in electrification efforts. Notably, initiatives such as the Ghana Energy Development and Access Project have significantly improved access to electricity, propelling economic growth and fostering social development.

Following closely behind are Cape Verde, Cote d’Ivoire, Algeria, and Tunisia, each making strides in bolstering their electricity grids and diversifying energy sources. The North African nations of Morocco and Egypt have also made substantial investments in renewable energy, harnessing the power of wind and solar to meet growing demand.

Surprisingly, Nigeria, often regarded as the “giant of Africa,” is conspicuously missing from the list, highlighting the challenges the country faces in ensuring stable electricity supply despite being Africa’s most populous nation.

In the Indian Ocean, Seychelles and Mauritius shine as examples of effective energy management, leveraging their natural resources to achieve energy independence. Meanwhile, countries like Gabon, Benin Republic, and Kenya are implementing innovative solutions to expand electricity access to remote areas and bridge the urban-rural divide.

Botswana and Senegal round out the list, demonstrating resilience in maintaining stable electricity infrastructure amidst various challenges.
